A Record-Breaking Night of Hope and Support

On May 3, 2025, Women In Distress of Broward County proudly hosted the 50th Anniversary Starfish Gala at the Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort. This signature event marked five decades of dedication to ending domestic violence and honoring the strength and resilience of survivors and their families.
The evening featured an elegant dinner, live entertainment by Gypsy Lane Band, an exciting silent auction, and an inspiring keynote speech from Tanya Brown, sister of Nicole Brown Simpson. Her heartfelt words reminded us all of the urgent need to support those affected by domestic violence and to continue raising awareness in our communities.
We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Gala was a record-breaking success in fundraising, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our sponsors, donors, and attendees. The funds raised will directly support critical services including our 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, counseling programs, and prevention and education initiatives.
