Holiday Giving Campaign
Holiday Toy & Gift Drive
Give the Ultimate Gift – Joy!
The holiday season brings anticipation for many, with thoughts of food, company, decorations, scents, and cherished memories. However, there’s another side to this coin. For domestic abuse survivors, the holidays can trigger trauma in various ways. Some bear memories tainted by domestic violence during specific occasions, while others, who have left their abusers to start fresh, may find themselves isolated during what should be a festive and jolly time.
Apart from the trauma, the holidays also compound stress for survivors. Financial abuse is another aspect of domestic violence, and many who seek refuge at Women In Distress arrive with nothing more than the clothes on their backs, often lacking access to money. Their fresh start is complicated by the lingering effects of domestic violence, coupled with the financial struggles of rebuilding their lives. The holiday season adds further strain as they strive to provide a “normal” celebratory meal and gifts for their children while in shelter.
For our Holiday Toy & Gift Drive, our caring community unites to offer our survivors a season of joy and relief. Together, we’re ensuring that their holiday experience is free from stress and filled with the warmth of support. We collect toys, clothing, and gift cards so the children can experience a “normal” holiday and bring smiles to their faces. We also collect and accept gifts for the adult survivors so they know they deserve joy too!
If you’re interested in supporting this drive or volunteering to aid our survivors during their “shopping” experience, please feel free to contact Nicole Winter, Associate Director of Development, Events & Annual Fund at 954-760-9800 x1245 or via email nwinter@womenindistress.org.
End-of-Year Giving
Empower survivors of domestic violence and their families with the gift of a violence-free future. By standing with Women In Distress, you directly impact families, ignite hope, and even save lives. Your generosity plays a vital role in our ability to provide secure shelter and essential services to women, children, and men escaping abusive environments. With your support, we offer critical resources like emergency shelter, counseling, and support to countless families, while also spreading awareness and education to prevent future violence.
Make your gift by December 31 to take full advantage of 2023 tax rules for deductions for both standard and itemized tax returns, IRA distributions, and corporate charitable gift deductions. Your generosity today paves the way for brighter tomorrows for those who need it most.
