Teen Dating Violence Specialist

Location: Jim and Jan Moran Family Center, Deerfield Beach, FL. Position requires occasional local travel. (Mileage is reimbursed.)

Position Summary

The Teen Dating Violence Specialist will provide teen dating violence prevention and healthy relationship skills education to youth, primarily high school students, through multi-session curriculum implementations, peer-to-peer programs, and one session presentations. The TDV Specialist will also provide awareness information to youth and adults in the community through representation at tabling events and through our social media platforms (Instagram and TikTok). The TDV Specialist will support the department’s work in building and maintaining collaborative relationships with community partners and stakeholders, including participation in education-based committees and collaboratives.


Full time, 40 hours per week Monday-Friday to include some flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Weekday work hours vary depending on school and event schedules, typically 7 AM to 4 PM or 9 AM to 6 PM. Position requires employee to have scheduling flexibility as needed to support the team and meet the needs of this agency.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work/Mental Health or related human services field required.
  • Effective presentation/training and public speaking experience preferred.
  • Experience working with groups from various demographics and diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to domestic violence education and/or public health prevention models preferred.
  • Empathetic, with a commitment to serving those in need.
  • High degree of initiative and independence.
  • Proficient computer and technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and virtual training/meeting platforms.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license. Safe/Acceptable driving history. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Facilitates a multi-session prevention curriculum surrounding the dynamics of teen dating violence and healthy relationship building in a high school setting using classroom management skills.
  • Facilitates dating violence awareness presentations to youth, parents, and community members.
  • Coordinates high school peer-to-peer TDV awareness and healthy relationships education programs.
  • Works collaboratively with team members to review and develop evidence-based training materials.
  • Partners with team members to plan and implement awareness initiatives (especially for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month), coordinate presentation scheduling, and attend community resource fairs, outreach events, and other community group meetings.
  • Partners with team members to create and post education content to the department’s Instagram and TikTok accounts.
  • Completes other department or agency tasks as assigned.

Additional Notes

  • Employee will be required to take the DCF Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.
