Position Summary

WID is looking for a Residential Assistant that has experience working in an emergency shelter/residential communal setting and a passion for the organization’s mission. The Residential Assistant will provide operational support and supportive services during their shift to ensure the functionality of the Residential Department.

Days/Hours

Monday to Friday 7:00am-4:00pm and may include a rotation of one weekend day. Position requires employee to have scheduling flexibility as needed to support the team and meet the needs of this agency. May be required to be available and remain onsite to assist during emergencies and other critical times.

Qualifications/Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Knowledge of inventory processes
  • Knowledge of OSHA standard cleaning procedures and health regulations.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Experience with using Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license. Safe driving record. Proof of Automobile Liability Insurance.
  • Must be able to drive a 15-passenger van.
  • Comfortable in presence of pets.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide daily transportation for survivors to key locations, including partner agencies and Women In Distress' thrift store as well as to meet individualized urgent needs.
  • Work in partnership with the Residential Management team to oversee the food and household supply inventory including maintenance of: inventory of bulk purchases, re-stocking shelter kitchen pantries, creation of welcome kits and oversee the delivery / pick-ups of supplies.
  • Work in partnership with the Residential Management team to oversee the shelter health regulations and appliance inspections. Will meet position productivity standards and funding contractual obligations as well as meet position quality assurance standards.
  • Complete light to moderate cleaning of shelter communal areas including trash disposal.
  • Work in partnership with the Residential custodial team to prepare exited rooms for new survivors, including discarding all remaining property in exited shelter rooms so the custodial team can sanitize the living space. Complete sanitation of room, as needed, when custodial staff is unavailable.
  • Maintain staff presence throughout the shelter facility including completing room inspections, internal and external shelter walk-throughs, enforcement of safety regulations and immediate intervention in crisis situations.
  • Assist Residential staff with participant related activities, as needed.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.

Additional Notes

  • Employee will be required to take the Department of Children and Families Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.
