Maintenance Technician

Location: Women In Distress Jim and Jan Moran Family Center Campus in Deerfield Beach.
Compensation:$17.50 - $18.00 per hour

Position Summary

Reporting to the Facilities Director, the Maintenance Technician will provide support to the entire agency. Duties include: perform preventative and necessary maintenance on AC, mechanical, electrical systems; maintain records of equipment inspections, perform routine and scheduled building and grounds inspections/maintenance as needed; prepare routine reports.

Days/Hours

40 hours per week, Tuesday – Saturday, 7A-4P with flexibility may be needed to meet the needs of the agency. This position is on call 24-hours.

Qualifications/Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required
  • 3 – 5 years of related maintenance technician experience in residential/commercial setting, required
  • Valid Driver’s License. Valid vehicle insurance. Clean Driving Record history
  • Experience in maintenance, plumbing, and carpentry, required
  • Knowledge of AC and electrical processes, preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and safety standards required for compliance
  • Valid HVAC, electrical, and/or plumbing certification, preferred
  • Effective Communication and Customer Service Skills
  • The position requires the employee to do moderate work: Exerting force occasionally, including lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.

Essential Job Functions

  • Carpentry: • Repairs, replacement, and maintenance of wood surfaces or structures. • Proper selection, use, and safe handling of hand and power tools.
  • Electrical: • Knowledge of electricity and electrical systems; resetting circuit breakers and replacing fuses; resetting/adjustment of electric/electronic time clocks. • Installation and maintenance of light fixtures, and other light equipment, installing outlets and running electrical wiring. • Knowledge of HVAC systems and ability to troubleshoot and fix problems and/or to work with certified HVAC service companies for larger projects. • Proper safety and cleanup techniques.
  • Plumbing: • Knowledge of plumbing and plumbing systems and their operation; repair and replacement of plumbing elements and systems. • Operation and maintenance of installed irrigation systems.
  • Painting and Drywall: • Effectively repair and replace drywall. • Paint and/or repainting of interior and exterior surfaces. • Selection of proper tools and materials to complete such work. • Use of proper safety and cleanup techniques.

Additional Notes

  • Upon hire, candidate will be required to take the Department of Children and Families (DCF) Core Competency training and obtain a passing grade of 75% or higher.
